A Little Bit About Us

Russ

During my school years I was an avid soccer player but after graduation I struggled to keep my fitness up, with a full time job and a young family I just couldn’t find the time. I joined a local gym but found no motivation and struggled with understanding how to train or what machines I should use.

In 2009 I was introduced to CrossFit, I loved the fast paced, varied workouts that always left me exhausted and sweaty (in a fun kind of way), 6 months later CrossFit Bundaberg opened its doors. I joined up straight away, it wasn’t long after that I secured a trainer’s position with them and enjoyed many years coaching, training and competing.

My new focus on fitness prompted a career change from my 17 years as a mechanical engineer to a position as a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness. I loved working in this new environment, being able to motivate, support and share my knowledge with my clients gave me a fresh lease on life.

After my experiences working in a commercial gym setting and being one of the original CrossFit trainers in Bundaberg, I developed a keen understanding of the fitness business. I’ve learnt what styles of training work and what best motivates people. Sadly, I’ve also witnessed the bad side of a gym environment. This motivated me to create a space that was functional, welcoming, fun and aims to appeal to everyone.

I've continued to further my experience by completing certificates in fitness, as well as competing in various marathons, obstacle races (Tough Mudder, Beach Bash, Obstacle Hell to name a few), CrossFit (Leeding’s Challenge, Immortals, Clash on the Coast etc.) and even a few powerlifting competitions.

Together with Tam I think we make an unbeatable team, I’m determined to ensure everyone gets their best real results!

After a health scare and a lot of false starts I finally got serious about my fitness. I trialled many gyms and personal trainers but couldn’t find a good fit (sorry about the pun), then I met Russ. Due in no small part to Russ’ effective training style and knowledge I lost over 25kg in body weight, gained muscle and won an 8-week fitness challenge.

Like many others in my position I also gained a real passion for fitness, which translated into a drive to help other people achieve their goals. With Russ’ knowledge guiding me I completed my studies to become a personal trainer.

It quickly became apparent that the study aspect of learning is only part of being a trainer and that understanding people’s abilities and mindset is just as important, fortunately this comes naturally to me. I believe I stand out from the crowd because I have applied and expanded my knowledge in a real-world setting by establishing and growing ‘Booty and the Beast Fitness’ with my best friend.

Guiding, teaching and motivating my clients to reach their own goals makes me appreciate the awesome environment I get to work in every day. Simple words can’t describe how much I care about everyone who walks into our studio.

HOW DO I START?

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR GYM?

As a personal training studio, we provide a more intimate setting for working out with a personal trainer. This means we are able to offer a more personalised experience, you'll never find yourself competing for space or equipment with us.

DO YOU HAVE MEMBERSHIPS OR CONTRACTS?

Unlike commercial gyms we have no memberships, you simply pay as you attend. You are not locked into any ongoing contracts and we do not charge any start up fees.

WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING DO YOU OFFER?

Training sessions are designed to complement your goals and interests. Sessions can be conducted both inside and outside and can include activities such as boxing, weights, circuits, walking/running and much more.

WHAT FACILITIES DO YOU OFFER?

There's 200m2 to play in so we're not short on space, our studio is filled with everything needed to get your heart rate up and muscles pumping. We know convenience is key, so bring the kids and take advantage of our comfortable lounge room.

WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING HOURS?

We are open by appointment. Contact us for a free consultation.

WHEN CAN I BOOK A TRAINING SESSION?

We are available for personal training between 5am and 7pm Monday to Friday. Contact us to secure your session now!

DO I NEED TO BE FIT BEFORE I START?

Not at all. In fact, if you’re unfit our studio is the best place for you. But one thing is certain: with our energy, passion and support you’ll soon be well on your way.

We provide personalised injury rehabilitation programs, ask us how to begin.
